Description:Created by Heinrich Himmler to be the top decoration issued by the Schutzstaffel, the Himmler Honor Ring was originally hand presented to the recipient by Himmler himself. Though issued in quantity, Himmler considered the recipient the mere "holder" of the ring, not the owner, and the ring was expected to be returned upon the death, retirement or dismissal of the SS-man, with a large chest at Wewelsburg Castle containing the rings of the fallen. Silver construction, with a death's head skull on the front flanked by "sig" runes, leafy engraving around the exterior, a swastika in a diamond, sig runes over a tyr rune, and an asterisk in a hexagon. The interior is inscribed "11.9.41 H.Himmler", with the original recipient's name illegible. Included with the ring is a certificate from Don Boyle, who attests that the ring is legitimate.
Rating Definition:Fair. The ring shows wear appropriate to age, with some loss of the runic designs and leaf decoration, especially on the rear, and some rubbing of the skull. The interior has been cleaned, with a visible seam properly positioned behind the skull.
