This is an attractive example of a DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Luger. This type of Luger was made expressly for export to the United States to increase sales for DWM. These early commercial Lugers are probably some of the best Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced. They all have excellent fit and finish with beautiful straw colors on the smaller components. The model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the early 4 3/4 inch barrel. The chamber area is marked with the "American Eagle" crest and the DWM logo on the front toggle. It has the first pattern polished lower safety area on the frame with no "GESICHERT" markings and the extractor marked "GELADEN". The only proof on this early export Luger is an early DWM barrel inspection proof on the underside of the barrel. The front end of the frame is marked with the full serial number over "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. The left side of the breechblock and underside of the front toggle are stamped with the last two digits of the serial number, as are some of the various other parts. The pistol is fitted with a set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with a unmarked wooden base.

Excellent with 98% plus of the original rust blued finish with only edge and high spot wear and cold blue touchup on the muzzle and side plate. The smaller parts retains 98% of their restrawed colors overall. The walnut grips are both in excellent condition with nice original distinct, sharp checkering showing only a couple of minor handling marks.
