The Luger Carbine was intended as a substitute for the light hunting rifles then available on the market, being highly compact when disassembled and light and easy to maneuver when assembled, with many exported to the United States prior to WWI. It has the undated chamber area with the standard DWM toggle marking. The carbine length barrel is fitted with a ramp front sight base with the beaded front sight with an adjustable, 300-meter tangent type rear sights. It has the early features such as the grip safety, recessed breechblock and dished toggles with toggle lock. The full serial number (24158) is stamped on the underside of the forend hanger, the underside of the barrel with the last two digits of the serial number on the various smaller parts. It is fitted with a short checkered Schnabel tip forearm with integral booster spring, a pair of checkered walnut grips, and a checkered walnut shoulder stock. The buttstock is checkered at the wrist area and fitted a serrated horn buttplate. The stock and forend are both fitted with factory sling swivels. The stock has its professionally refinished attaching iron that is re-numbered "158". It is complete with one polished steel magazine with a wood base stamped "GERMANY".
Excellent with 85% plus of the blue finish still remaining overall with edge and high spot wear overall with blue loss on the front left side of the barrel, the lower area of the rear grip strap and the underside of the barrel where it rubbed against the forend. Straw colors remain 60% intact. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides. The forend and shoulder stock (see above) are both in very fine condition with a nice light honey color and nice, original, distinct checkering overall with only a few minor handling marks.
