Manufactured in 1929. Fixed sights, with the two-line Colt address and patent dates on the left side of the slide, a matching serial number beneath the firing pin stop, and "COLT/SUPER .38/AUTOMATIC" on the right next to the Rampant Colt. The trigger guard is marked "1/VP" on the left and "99" on the right, with the serial number on the right side of the frame, a short milled trigger, wide checkered hammer, long grip safety, and checkered slide stop, thumb safety and arched mainspring. With double diamond checkered grips and a two-tone magazine. Includes a type III Colt "woodgrain" box with a Super 38 end label on the lid.
Very fine with 90% plus original polished blue finish. Displaying numerous handling marks in the grip strap area, a few light surface scratches and some very minor edge wear. The revarnished replacement government model grips are very good with mild handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The later production box is good with a peeling end label and small scuffs throughout.
