This Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Rifle was manufactured in 1881 and has an octagon barrel, German silver blade front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, standard markings, and smooth walnut forearm and buttstock with iron buttplate and empty trapdoor compartment. Several antique .44 rimfire cartridges with "U" headstamps are included.
Very good. The iron surfaces have a dark brown patina and overall light pitting. The fine, crisp receiver has an attractive aged "mustard yellow" patina with minor marks. The reoiled wood is also very good with light scratches and pressure marks. The left side of the buttstock has finish and the right side does not, thus an uneven appearance. The action is fine. This Winchester Model 1866 Rifle would make a fine addition to one's old west collection!
