This Winchester Model 1866 SRC was manufactured in 1871. "78571 M S" is marked on the lower tang behind the trigger. The barrel has the two line address and King's improvement marking along with a two leaf rear sight. The front sight is a pinched blade on the magazine retaining band. The left side of the action has a saddle ring and stud.
Good. The iron surfaces have brown and gray patina and some light pitting and oxidation. The crisp receiver is fine with an attractive aged "mustard yellow" patina. The "gunmetal" action and buttplate have an aged patina. The partially repaired stock is fair with a crack from the front of the comb down to the toe and various minor scrapes and dings. The action is fine, and the markings are clearly legible. A solid, representative Winchester model 1866 SRC!
