Description:

This is an excellent example of a commercial DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Luger. This type of Luger was made expressly for export to the United States to increase sales for DWM . These early commercial Lugers are probably some of the best Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced and all feature excellent fit and finish with beautiful straw colors on the smaller components. The model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel with the top of the chamber area marked with the large American Eagle crest and the DWM logo on the front toggle. It has the "Crown "N" proof on the underside of the barrel along with the serial number. The left side of the barrel extension is also marked with the single "Crown" horizontal "N" proof. (It is faint, but totally original) The front end of the frame is marked with the full serial number over "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. The left side of the breechblock and front toggle are stamped with the last two digits of the serial number, as well as the various other parts. The pistol is fitted with a set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with a unmarked wooden base. The standard DWM front sight blade was replaced during the period of usage with a US style beaded front sight that looks original and has been on the pistol for a long time, and it may have been originally ordered this way.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the original blued finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. The various small parts retain 98% of their restored straw colors. The walnut grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering on both sides. This pistol has all matching parts. Mechanically excellent. An exceptional example of a DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Luger.
