This outstanding custom rifle features a tapered barrel with a hooded beaded blade front and two leaf (one standing, one folding) express rear sight on an engraved and gold inlaid quarter rib. The front sight ramp is intricately engraved in a highly detailed floral scroll with gold inlaid accents and two gold bands around the muzzle. The chamber area of the barrel is marked on the right with "JOHN BOLLINGER/RIFLEMAKER" with the caliber "THIRTY GOVERNMENT/1906" on the left with delicate scroll work borders. The scope bases, and rings are engraved in the same style as the action with brilliant inlaid gold accents and borders. The floorplate is engraved in high detail with an oval scene of a leopard taking an antelope into a tree with more gold bordering and floral scroll. The underside is signed "GLIMM ENGR" just forward of the floorplate, indicating the engraving and gold inlay was performed by Master Engraver Jerome Glimm. The engraved trigger guard is monogrammed with "CRM" in gold wire inlay. Fitted with a Zeiss DIAVARI-C 3-9x36 scope. Mounted on a nicely figured triple X fancy English walnut stock with ebony forend tip, fleur de lis checkering at the forearm and grip, engraved gold inlaid skeleton grip cap, raised shadow line cheek piece, engraved inset sling swivel studs and a solid Decelerator recoil pad.
Very fine as built by a Master Gunsmith and master engraved, finished and gold inlaid. With 99% of the blue, scattered light handling marks and some light discoloration on the floorplate game scene. The wood is very fine with very attractive grain and mineral lines and scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Optics are very clear. Just an all around wonderful example of the custom rifle makers trade.
