This pistol is unmarked aside from a Liege proofmark and the numbers at the breech but perfectly fits the French fitted presentation case which is marked "FRANCIS MARQUIS/2 BOULEVARD DES ITALIENS/A PARIS" in golden letters. Francis Marquis was active in Paris from around the 1830s to early 1870s. There are eight twist-off barrels which have elaborate Damascus twist patterns that are textured to the touch. The action, back strap, and even the small parts including the screws have scroll engraved scroll patterns. The case contains a bullet mold and powder flask.
Very good. The pistol has a lightly aged and slightly mottled gray patina and some minor marks. The grips are very good with some slight dings and light scratches. The action is fine, and the designs and markings are mostly crisp. The case is fine with staining, pressure indents, and one compartment lid absent on the interior and mild storage type wear on the exterior.
