Description:

This shotgun is inscribed to Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo, Heinrich Himmler and is documented as being captured by an American soldier, Alfred A. Pedroni. Pedroni was a member of the 101st Airborne Division which occupied Hitler's mountain home in Berchtesgaden. While at the home Pedroni noticed fresh plaster on a wall and cut into it with his knife. In the wall he found this shotgun which bears Himmlers name engraved on it. The left rear barrel is engraved "Dem Scharfschutzen" (Sharp Shooter) and "H Himmler" much in the style found on the party daggers. The top of the solid matte rib is marked "ARMES JACQUEMART HERSTAL". The matching serial number is marked on the water table, barrels and forearm hardware. The water table and barrel flats are marked with various Belgium proof marks. Engraved bands around the breech end of the barrels and light floral designs on the action. Single brass bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers, the barrels gauge at modified/modified with extractor. Casehardened action, blue remaining parts, double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety, and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with a cheek piece and checkered horn buttplate. The shotgun comes with a notarized letter stating that this shotgun was found in a wall at Hitler's mountain home in Berchtesgaden and brought back to the U.S. by Alfred A. Pedroni, a copy of a newspaper article from the Redding Record Searchlight newspaper with an article about Cpl. Pedroni being honorably discharged and about him bringing back three rifles, three pistols and the Himmler shotgun, a copy of a Certificate Of Appreciation from the society of Dutch Airborne Friends to Alfred Pedroni and copies of several letters written by Mr. Pedroni during WWII.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrels retain 98% original blue finish with some thinning on the breech end and some light spotting on the left barrel near the muzzle. The trigger guard shows some wear, thinning and a few minor dings. The action retains 90% original bright case colors with some edge wear, thinning and some light spotting. The wood is also very fine. The sling swivel on the stock has been removed and the hole has been filled. Overall the wood shows a few minor dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. The markings remain sharp. Mechanically excellent. An extraordinary Heinrich Himmler SS presentation shotgun with solid documentation.
