Description:

This is an example of a 2 1/2 inch barrel Colt 1877 ejectorless "storekeepers" Model 1877 DA revolver. This desirable DA revolver is accompanied by a leather "Gopher Brand" cartridge/money belt. The belt has 41 cartridge loops and the rear of the tongue is heavily stamped "GOPHER BRAND" and the front of the tongue stamped: "557/387/34 W". The back side of the belt is hand written in ink: "George Heister" The top of the barrel has the short two-line markings of "COLTS' PT. F.A. MFG. Co./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." with the left side marked with the rare etched barrel panel markings of "COLT D.A.41". The left side of the frame has the standard Colt three-line patent dates. The pistol has the high polish all blued finish with the color casehardened frame which has been fitted with a one-piece set of checkered walnut grips. It is correctly marked with the matching serial number on the frame, trigger guard and back strap with "998" on the rear of the cylinder. The left rear side of the left trigger guard bow is marked "41 CAL".

Rating Definition:

Fine with 50% of the original Colt blued finish with most of the wear on the rear back strap. The frame has aged to a gray patina overall with traces of case colors mostly present in the protected areas. The walnut grip is in fine condition with nice matching color on both sides, fine distinct checkering and minor handling marks. The cartridge/money belt is in very fine condition with a light brown color overall showing some minor wrinkling of the leather on the folded edge. It is still very supple overall and has all the stitching intact and all the cartridge loops intact. The markings are clear and distinct. A very nice western style money belt and scarce Colt short barreled "Storekeepers" 1877 DA revolver.
