This is an early production Winchester Model 1890 that was manufactured in 1894 with a casehardened takedown frame and fixed two position globe front and fixed dovetailed notch rear sight on an octagon barrel marked with the two-line New Haven address and "22 WRF" at the breech. The upper tang is fitted with an adjustable peep sight, with the serial number on the lower tang. Mounted with a straight grip stock, casehardened crescent buttplate and hammer and 12 groove slide handle.
Fine. The barrel and magazine tube 40% blue with the balance having aged to a primarily uniform deep brown with some edge wear and light handling marks. The receiver has 30% plus of the original case colors. The balance having aged and silvered to a gray patina with mild brown spotting. The Breech bolt has been reblued and displays some minor surface scratches. The wood is very good, with warm color and attractive grain. It does display some scattered light to moderate scratches and shallow pressure indentations. Mechanically
