This is an excellent example of a Model 1928 Thompson Submachine gun as manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York. In 1975 the Auto-Ordnance corp again began producing a newly manufactured Model 1928 SMG. These SMGs can be easily identified by the use of an "A" suffix on the serial number of the weapons. All these new production weapons still retained many of the earlier original style parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator on the barrel, vertical fore grip, detachable buttstock and adjustable ladder rear sight. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.1078A" followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1". The right side is marked "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A.". This desirable weapon has an all walnut, stock, vertical fore grip and pistol grip with the later brush blued finish. It is complete with two, 50 round drum magazines and three 20 round stick magazines, instruction manual and black plastic "Thompson" marked carrying case.
Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear showing limited firing overall. The wood components are all in excellent condition with a nice matching light brown color overall with minimal handling marks. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATF) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
