According to the Colt factory records (copy of 1986 dated letter included) this pistol was part of a shipment to the Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri on October 22, 1912. In addition to the blue finish and "Not Listed" grips, the letter includes the note "Factory Engraved: Yes". The overall markings and features are standard for the Model 1903 Hammerless, with zig-zag border lines on the sides of the slide, a scroll panel around the Rampant Colt, punch-dot backed scrollwork on the sides of the frame, a burst design on the rear of the slide above a flower on the frame, and a pair of smooth mother of pearl grips with micarta spacer panels.
Very good with 25% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed gray patina overall with original blue concentrated on the sides of the frame and in the protected areas. The non-factory period added pearl grips are fine with the right screw escutcheon loose and some tiny chips. Mechanically excellent.
