Manufactured in 1908, this rifle's shortened barrel is marked with the two line address/1894 patent date to the left at the center, "-NICKEL STEEL BARREL-/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" below the rear sight, "30 W.C.F." at the breech, and the Winchester oval proof on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang markings have the model and trademark information. The lower tang by the trigger is marked "8" and "27", and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It features blade front and semi buck horn rear sights, a full length magazine, and is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Very fine as shortened (the barrel assembly) and partially refinished. The balance of rifle retains 60% of the blue finish with some areas thinning and some finish absent on the frame particularly on the right side. The buttplate has an aged silver finish with some oxidation. The fine wood is smooth with some minor ding and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
