The included letter confirms that this carbine was shipped on August 22, 1905 with a half magazine in 25-35 WCF. It features a blade front sight and folding rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address and patent information in front of the rear sight and "NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER " below the sight and "25-35/WCF" at the breech with proofmarks on the barrel and frame. The upper tang is marked with the model and trademark information, and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. There is a saddle ring mounted on the left side of the frame. It is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate.
Very fine. The carbine retains 75% plus of the original finish with some edge wear, minor marks/scratches, and most of the blue remaining on the frame with a gray/brown patina on the exposed surfaces. The wood is also very fine with golden toned, glossy buttstock and slightly less glossy forearm with some minor scratches, dings, and marks. Mechanically excellent.
