This is quite possibly a "one-of-a-kind" WWII P38/P08 leather holster stamping and die forming set, that is reportedly from the Seidel factory. This set is comprised of 17 different pieces; eight different stamping leather cutters that would be used to actually cut the first leather holster shapes (for the body, straps and flap) from the large strips of tanned leather, three complete large (and very heavy) top and bottom brass leather forming stamp and die sets. These brass dies sets are used to actually form the cut leather shapes into "molded" shapes for the holster body, the holster flap and the side magazine pouch. The last items are two wooden forms that are used to form the molded leather into their final shapes for the holster. These two forms are for the magazine pouch and the overall shape of the holster body and flap. The steel leather cutters and brass forming dies are not marked anywhere. However, the end of the larger wooden form is marked in ink: "P08 u. P38". The other wooden form (for the magazine pouch) is also hand marked on the end: "Nur fur P38" and "Ahfasse???aur am Rand!" with Helmut Seidel written in the lower corner and the square forming stick hand written at the top: "Oben fur P-38".
The leather cutters are all in very fine condition with the brass forming dies also in very good condition showing use but very nice and not abused. The wooden forming dies are all in very good condition with only minor handling marks and scratches overall from light use and handling with nice clear ink markings. This truly is a very rare set quite possibly the only set still available to the collecting fraternity today.
