This is a late war "qve-45" K43 semi-automatic rifle manufactured by the Berlin-Lubecker factory in 1945. This desirable rifle is accompanied by the original capture papers dated May, 1945, wherein it states this rifle was captured and is allowed to be in the possession of Eugene Harnack as a war trophy. The late war rough cast receiver is marked "Eagle/214/3706l/K.43, qve 45" and has a single bolt guide. It also has the rough cast bolt carrier with the reinforcing web on top with the hold open latch on the right side, with the hollow cocking knob, and the stamped action cover. This example still retains the earlier threaded muzzle and muzzle cover. It has the standard blade front sight with the military tangent rear sight marked 1-12, (100-1,200 meters) with sheet metal front sight cover. It is fitted with the wartime laminated stock that is stamped "8706L" on the underside with two "Eagle/WaA214" proof, on the right sides of the butt which is fitted with a cupped sheet metal buttplate with trapdoor. It also has the war red-resin coated laminated handguard. It is complete with a "gcb/K43" marked 10 round box magazine and a cross hatched leather sling.
Very fine with 95% of the blue/black metal finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The stock and handguard are both in fine condition with the stock having been lightly sanded and revarnished at some point as the comb is slightly undersized for the buttplate. Still a very scarce late WWII K43 semi-automatic rifle.
