This is a very unusual example of a WWI Imperial German Navy Luger, that is an early post WWI/Weimar era 1908 commercial Luger pistol. The chamber area and left frame rail are both undated with the left side of the barrel extension having the standard single "Crown" Navy firing proof next to the double "Crown/M" Naval acceptance proofmarks. It has the standard 4 inch short barrel, chambered in 9mm Luger fitted with standard fixed front and rear sights. It has a very early serial number (52) on the underside of the barrel with a single Navy "Crown" firing proof on the left side, and without any other markings. The front toggle has the standard "DWM" monogram with the left side of the frame rail being undated. It has the second pattern safety marked "GESICHERT" and a standard extractor marked "GELADEN". As noted this pistol has a very early serial number, 52 and is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number on all the parts, with no other proof or property markings. It is complete with one WWI era magazine with the nickel plated body and unmarked wooden base. It is complete with a WWI leather holster stamped inside "J.F.CLUDEWS/BERLIN/1917". The pistol has an arsenal refurbished blue finish with straw colored small components.
Very fine condition with 90% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering and minor handling marks overall. The holster is also in very fine condition with a nice darker brown color with minor scuffs, scratches with handling marks on top of the flap, tight stitching and clear markings.
