This rifle is 1 of only 125 manufactured. It is chambered in the massive .470 Capstick cartridge. This cartridge was designed in 1990 by Colonel Art Alphin founder of the A-Square Company. It pushes a 500 grain .475 caliber bullet at approximately 2,400 FPS. The .470 Capstick chambered Model 70 was only offered by the Winchester Custom Shop, the largest caliber offered in the Model 70 line. The floor plate has a gold and silver highlighted image of a rhinoceros with "SAFARI/CLASSIC" highlighted in gold at the top, "BIG/5" highlighted in gold inside of an outline of Africa at the bottom and there are flourishes of floral scroll engraving on the sides. The trigger guard has a blank gold highlighted initial oval with flourishes of floral scroll engraving. The barrel has a hooded beaded blade front sight on a crosshatched ramp, an adjustable open rear sight, a sling stud barrel band, a "C/CS" proofmark in an oval and a "W/P" proofmark in an oval. There are Leupold quick detachable scope mounts holding a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5x scope. Mounted on a nicely figured walnut pistol grip stock with multi-point checkering, two reinforcing bolts, a raised right handed cheekpiece, a rear sling stud and a Winchester recoil pad. Excellent, 99% of the original blue finish remains with some wear on the trigger guard and a few scattered light scratches. The stock is also excellent with some scattered light dings, scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically fine. The scope is excellent as well with a few scattered light scratches and some minor oxidation on the front scope ring.
