Predating the rise of the Nazi party, the knife of the State Forest Service (Staatsforstdienst) served as a badge of honor and rank, with ivory and white celluloid grips reserved for senior officials and Foresters. Measuring 16 1/4 inches overall, with an 11 3/4 inch blade bearing the WKC logo on the right ricasso and etched hunting scenes on each side. Gilt finished brass gilt, with a hunting dog on the languet, an oak leaf guard terminating in stag hoofs, smooth ivory grip panels with gilt oak leaf and acorn ornaments, and a green and silver portapee with matching acorn. With a black leather sheath, gilt fittings numbered "85" on the rear, and a green leather vertical hanger.
Excellent, with light spotting and strong etching on the excellent blade, well aged brass visible on the attractive grip and high points of the hilt and sheath, and some mild scuffing of the leather.
