This is a beautiful example of a late Colt Model 1902 (military model) pistol manufactured in late 1920. The right side of the slide is marked in two lines "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS", and the left is roll-stamped in a two block, two line marking of "PATENTED/APR.20,1897.SEPT.9,1902" followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A.". The Rampant Colt is stamped on the left side behind the slide serrations. The left side trigger guard bow is stamped with a "1" assembler's mark above the Colt "VP/triangle" proofmark. The magazine floor plate is roll stamped "MIL./COLT/38 CAL." in three lines. These early pistol all have the Colt high polish commercial blue finish, casehardened finish on the hammer, and the chamber area and muzzle of the barrel having a factory polished finished. It is complete with a rare early hand tooled brown leather holster. The front of the flap is stamped "SETTLER BRAND/FARWELL". The holster is designed to fit the Model 1902 pistol and has a hand tooled border and front flap. The initials D.W.A. are inked inside the holster.
Very fine with 80% plus of the Colt factory blue finish with edge and high spot wear. Some minor speckling on the rear grip strap. The grips are also very fine with nice distinct checkering on and Colt markings on both sides showing minor wear. The holster is also in fine with nice clear distinct markings on the face and tight stitching. Showing only minor scratches and on the flap from use. An all original civilian production Colt Model 1902 military rig.
