This is a beautiful example of an all original, very rare 1939 production, "S/42" Mauser Police Luger pistol rig, with the sear safety bar over the side plate, two matching magazines and a correct 1939 dated Police holster. These early Mauser "S/42" police Lugers are very rare and are different than the standard Mauser Banner Police Lugers, as this variation can only be identified by the sear safety bar over the side plate, as they carry NO Police proofmarks. The top of the chamber is dated 1939 and it has the "S/42" code marking on the front toggle. It has the later style "Eagle/63" Waffenamt proofs on the barrel extension and barrel. There is a single eagle firing proof also on the barrel extension, barrel and breechblock. It is correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" on the safety area and extractor respectively. It is complete with two original matching, type two Army magazines, with the unmarked blue sheet metal steel bodies, with the aluminum bases that are marked "8102/n/Eagle 63" and "8102/n/+/Eagle 63" respectively. This Luger is also complete with a like new brown 1939 dated Police holster. This holster is marked on the back "Kern Klager & CIE./1939/Eagle Police proof.
Excellent plus with 99% of the original blue finish overall with only edge and high spot wear overall. The grips are also in excellent condition with minor handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent. The holster is in excellent condition with nice tight stitching overall, clear sharp markings with only some minor wear and discoloration on the upper corner of the flap. As noted this very rare, early "S/42" Police Luger has all matching numbers to include both magazines.
