Late 19th century tourist khanjar dagger. Measuring 16 1/2 inches overall, with an 11 inch curved double fuller blade. The blade shows polished edges and a fine "watered" pattern, with deeply chiseled floral and Fleur-de-Lis style embellishment. Extensive gold koftgari decoration has been masterfully executed on the metal hilt, in a mixture of floral, scroll, and sunwheel patterns together with a small faceted knob on the pommel. With a fabric covered scabbard. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection
Very fine, with some light handling marks and spotting on the blade, with strong Damascus pattern and minor edge dings. Over 95% of the original gold is present on the hilt, with a dark brown patina overall. The scabbard is good, with some material loss and exposed wood.
