Stock: hardwood

Description:

No makers marks can be found on this arm, though the buttstock profile and barrel band layout suggest a Mediterranean origin. Single bead sight, with a flared tulip muzzle and four barrel bands. At the midsection of the arm is a four chamber cylinder assembly, with each chamber having it's own swivel-lid flashpan, and a notch on the leading edge to interface with a flat spring, which holds the chamber in alignment when firing. The serpentine is spring loaded, and controlled by a large firing stud on the underside of the wrist. Stock is smooth hardwood, with floral pattern brass accents, and a brass belted naked butt. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

About good, with a mixed gray and brown patina overall, showing some pitting concentrated on the firing mechanism. The stock is good, with a small chip detached (but included) from the forearm near the cylinder, and scattered cracks and dents. Mechanically good.
