This holster was produced for a Colt percussion revolver. This Main & Winchester Slim Jim holster features an open top and open toe and is for use on the left side of a belt. The back of the holster is stamped with the maker marking above the sewn belt loop. Charles Main and E. H. Winchester founded the legendary firm of Main & Winchester in 1849 to become the first saddle shop of significance on the West Coast. The company developed a reputation for hiring the finest craftsmen and adhering to rigid standards. In 1905 Main & Winchester were bought out by the other pioneer San Francisco firm L.D. Stone before ultimately being absorbed into Keyston Brothers in 1912.
About good, the leather remains relatively supple with some scattered age/flex cracks and one split between two of the tooled leaves. Nearly all of the tooling remains visible with only minor wear overall.
