A. Henry's Patent Falling Block Rifle
This is an example of a light weight Alexander Henry falling block rifle. Raised low blade front sight and raised three blade rear sight on a barrel marked "ALEXr HENRY EDINBURGH AND LONDON" at the breech with British proofs on the left side. Additional British proofs are stamped on the receiver and breech block. The border engraved receiver is marked "PATENT/No1787" at the top. The border engraved lock plate is marked "ALEXr HENRY". Mounted with a nicely figured pistol grip stock featuring multi-point checkering, a grip cap and a checkered flat buttplate.
Excellent. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish with the balance a smooth plum patina. The remaining metal surfaces retain 97% original vivid case colors. The wood is very fine with some minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
