A very nice pre-war commercial production Mauser Wehrmansgewehr Tirolean Shooting Association (Tiroler Schutzen Verein, T.St.V) rifle. Developed from the Gewehr 98, the Serviceman's Rifle was configured for para-military target shooting between 100 and 300 meters, chambered for the 8.15x46R cartridge, a lower-powered round that would be safer for use in built-up areas and provided with a level of fit and finish well beyond the martial production arms of the same era. Blade front and and windage adjustable tangent rear sights with caliber marking on the left side of the breech, a spread-winged Nazi Tyrolean Eagle on the front receiver ring over "T.ST.V." and the serial number and the Mauser banner on the rear receiver ring, "crown/letter" proofs on the left side, and the Mauser address on the side wall. Milled components. Smooth pistol grip stock, with sling mounts on the underside and a flat steel buttplate. Included with the arm is a copy of an American Rifleman article, with more info on the arm and it's cartridge.
Excellent, with 98% of the original high polish blue finish, showing minimal handling marks. Matching numbers are present on the bolt components. The stock is very good with scattered dents. Mechanically excellent.
