Manufactured in 1940. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two line address, three patent dates. " THE WOODSMAN" is marked on left side of the frame followed by "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL..22LONG RIFLE" and the Rampant Colt on the slide. The serial number is marked on the front strap. The back strap has the series of horizontal lines indicating the design change for high velocity ammunition. Ramped front blade and adjustable rear target sights, serrated trigger and a blue Colt Woodsman marked magazine. Fitted with checkered walnut grips. Complete with a Colt black hinged lid box hand numbered to the gun, cleaning brush in original envelope, sight tool in original envelope and one box of Peters High Velocity 22 Long Rifle ammunition. Also included is the form 57 tag indicating the the pistol has the new main spring housing adapting the arm for use with all standard, high speed or high velocity cartridges.
Excellent. The pistol retains 99% plus of the original finish with faint marks from handling and storage. The right side of the frame shows two light scratches. The grips are excellent, the checkering sharp. Mechanically excellent
