Inheriting the arms business and Deringer agent status from their father Charles in 1863, the Curry brothers, Nathaniel and John, sold the firm to Charles Ladd in 1886. German silver blade front and notch rear sights, with "P" bordered by zig-zag engraving on the left side of the breech, "DERINGER/PHILADELA'' on top, and "N.CURRY & BRo/SAN FRANCo CALa/AGENTS" on the top flat of the barrel. A pair of 18k gold bands are inlayed on the breech. The "PHILADELA" address is repeated on the lock, with scroll engraving on the tang, hammer, lock, trigger guard, buttplate, reverse and accent pates, blossom designs on the escutcheons and a pineapple trigger guard finial. Checkered birds head stock, with silver finished furniture and a floral pattern on the patch box door. A fine example of a high end agent marked Philadelphia Deringer.
Very good, showing a solid brown patina finish on the barrel, with some minor spotting and a small amount of pitting. A dark gray color is showing on the lock plate. The hammer has possibly been replaced. Stock is good, with a few cracks and dents. Mechanically good.
