Manufactured in 1958, this is one of only 65 Second Generation Colt Buntlines finished in nickel plating, making this an extremely rare variation. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side is marked "COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL .45", the bottom of the barrel is marked "BB3452" and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt VP triangle proof, "P" on the left rear and "5" on the right front. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the left side of the front and back straps under the grip, and matching assembly number, "740", marked on the loading gate and right rear of the frame. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with smooth two-piece pearl grips. Complete with the original hinged lid black box numbered to the gun, original waxed paper, original smooth walnut grips numbered ("890") to the gun, bore brush and papers including a scan of the original packing slip (no shipping address provided).
Excellent. The revolver retains 99% of the original nickel finish showing only the slightest collector type handling marks. There is a faint drag line on the cylinder. The grips are also excellent with a small chip on the upper left panel. The walnut grips are also excellent with a few minor handling marks. The markings are sharp. The box is very good plus.
