Description:This is a very late war rifle produced at the Mauser factory under French occupation, as a Kreigsmodell. The rifle is absent of any Nazi proof marks and has a French "star" proof on the left side of receiver. The parts are all late war stamped parts and the barrel bands are correctly welded and screwed on. The top of the chamber is marked "Mod. 98/SVWMB". The rear barrel step is marked "7,9" and the breech end of top of the barrel is marked an unrecognizable marking followed by "44 D". The front band is numbered to the gun. All blue finish, hooded front and rear tangent sights with the rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The one piece stock is fitted with a cupped buttplate featuring a firing pin takedown hole. Comes with a brown leather sling.
Rating Definition:Excellent. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish showing some thinning on the muzzle, floor plate, trigger guard and bolt handle, and some high edge wear. The stock is very good with a few scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The sling is good with some wear and age cracking. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
