Description:

Produced at the Mauser factory in 1934, under the Nazi code system of marking, intended to obscure the extent of German rearmament before the start of open hostilities. The chamber is marked with the letter "K" for the date 1934 and the toggle is marked "S/42" for Mauser with the "S" being the correct Gothic style of letter. The barrel extension is stamped with 2nd variation proofs with the box, B90 and S91 proofs along with a "droop wing eagle" proof. The test fire and B90 proofs are repeated on the barrel with an addition firing proof on the breechblock. The matching serial number is marked on the left side of the barrel extension, front of the frame and bottom of the barrel, as well as the bore diameter "8,84" on the bottom of the barrel, with the partial number "97" on most small parts. Correctly marked extractor and safety position. Straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, with "97" stamped on the inside of the left panel, and non-matching nickel plated magazine with aluminum base (3576/d). Takedown lever is an unserialized replacement.

Rating Definition:

Good. The pistol retains traces, scattered very thin original blue finish mixed mostly with extensive areas of an cold blue finish on the balance of the metal. Most of the metal surfaces show some scattered minor pin-prick pitting. The small parts have a mottled silver gray patina with traces of straw color. The grips are good with some moderate high point wear, scattered minor dents, dings and nicks. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. K-date P.08 Lugers saw extensive usage and any example is rare and most sought after.
