Description:This Model 1851 Navy revolver was manufactured in 1855 at the Colt London Armory. The barrel has the one line London address, "COLT / PATENT" on left frame side, and navy battle scene on the cylinder. Two British proofs on the left barrel lug with the proofs alternating on the cylinder between the chambers. Matching numbers on cylinder, barrel, frame, and iron grip straps, with the wedge appearing to be re-numbered to the gun. Fitted with a smooth one-piece grip. Comes with a partitioned wooden case lined in red velvet with a J. Barlow powder flask, combination tool, Colt bullet mold, percussion cap tin, package combustible envelope cartridges (3/6), and key.
Rating Definition:Very good plus. The barrel retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a mottled gray patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a balance between a smooth gray patina and a mottled gray patina, with traces of original case colors in the protected areas of the loading lever and frame. The cylinder retains much of the roll engraved scene. The grip is fine with most of the original varnish remaining and numerous minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. The case is very good with minor handling marks and the lining showing wear from the high spots of the revolver.
