This is a very fine, example of an early and complete Ludwig Loewe & Co., Model 1893 Borchardt pistol that include the original black leather carrying case, and full complement of accessories with four matching magazines. The chamber area of the barrel extension is marked in three lines: "WAFFENFABRIK/ LOEWE/BERLIN" and the right side of the receiver is marked "SYSTEM BORCHARDT PATENT.". The top of the toggle link is stamped "N.R.P./No. 75837". The pistol serial number "384" is visible on the stock lug, the bottom of the pistol grip, the left side of the trigger, the left side of the toggle link, the rear underside of the barrel, the side of the stock and on the base of all four magazines. The lower edge of the detachable stock and the dummy magazine are marked "GESETZLICH GESCHUTZT". The left side of the barrel has the standard Crown over B, U and G proofs, while the left front edge of the barrel extension, the left side of the breechblock and toggle assembly have the standard Crown over the "B and U" acceptance proofs. As noted this is a complete Borchardt cased set with (1) four matching, nickel-plated, wooden base magazines (one for the pistol with three spares), (2) a wooden dummy magazine with brass oiler on the bottom, (3) detachable wooden stock (however missing the cheek piece), (4) black leather holster attached to the stock, (5) black leather sling, 6) brass cleaning rod, (7) detachable screw driver blades, (8) wooden handle for cleaning rod and screw drivers, (9) two steel punches, (10) round silver plated, brass oil can (11) a early small tin of Vaseline (lubrication) that is marked made by the Carl Abermann & Co. Frankfurt". The luggage-type case is covered with black leather and has a nickel plated oval name plate in the center of the lid and nickel-plated fittings. The case interior is lined with green velvet and divided into eight compartments.
Very fine with 80% plus of the original blue finish overall showing even, honest original wear on all the edges and high spots, with slightly more thinning and blue loss on the front end of the barrel, the lower edges of the grip straps and bottom of the magazine well, the front edges of the frame rails and the area directly on the rear of the pistol where the stock iron attaches. The walnut board stock is in excellent condition with minimal handling marks with clear sharp markings on the edge, with 95% of the original blue on the attaching iron with 98% of the heat blued finish on the various attaching screws on the sides of the stock. The black leather holster is in fair condition with good solid stitching overall, with almost all of the surface or face of the leather worn off. The magazine are all in excellent condition with minimal handling marks on the wooden bases. The various other accessories are all in very good condition. The actual black leather carrying case is in good plus condition with a nice black color overall, but showing considerable wear across all the surfaces of the leather material, from actual carrying and travel use. The locks and hinges are all in fine condition. A very nice all original example of a desirable 1893 Borchardt semi-automatic pistol.
