Manufactured in 1947, this pistol is one of a few thousand Woodsman pistols manufactured after WWII using left over pre-war parts and were often a mix of pre-war and post-war markings and finishes. Most were fitted with the plastic extended grips leftover from the Match Target military contract. These pistols mark the last of the First Series Woodsman pistol. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/1903 and 1918 patent dates, the left side of the frame is marked "THE WOODSMAN", the left side of the slide "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL..22 LONG RIFLE" followed by the Rampant Colt. The serial number is marked on the front strap and the upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the letter "R" over the Colt "VP" triangle proof, with "37" on the opposite. Elevation adjustable front blade and windage adjustable rear sights, serrated trigger, serrated panel on the back strap, blue Colt Woodsman marked magazine and fitted with checkered extended plastic grips with "COLT" over the Rampant Colt in a circle at the top. Complete with an original two-piece maroon lid box, with instructions and sight screwdriver.
Excellent. The pistol retains 99% original blue finish with a few overall minor handling marks and some pin prick type surface rust present on the back strap. The grips are as new. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent. The box is fair with tape repairs.
