This pistol was Ruger's response to the publics demand for small caliber, high velocity handguns. Only 3,300 were manufactured between 1963 and 1964. Built on a flattop single action revolver frame with the cylinder replaced by a rotating breechblock. Features a raised ramp front sight with adjustable rear target sight. Barrel was factory drilled and tapped for 1" scope base. The left of the barrel is marked "RUGER HAWKEYE / WIN. 256 MAG.CAL." and the left of the receiver has the two line address. Breechblock latch is on the left side of the breech. Fitted with smooth walnut grips with medallions.
Very fine. 90% of the original blue finish, showing light wear around the muzzle with a light scratch on the right side of the barrel. Ejector housing shows mild finish loss on its underside. Slight edge wear on the breechblock. Minor spotting on the hammer. Grips are very good with light handling marks, medallions show the black enamel is starting to flake with just remainders on the left side. Mechanically excellent.
