This is a nice example of a 1st variation "ac/41" code P38 pistol. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38" next to "ac/41" and then the serial number. The right side of the slide has a single eagle firing proof flanked by two "eagle/359" acceptance proofs of the Walther factory. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "ac". The left and right side of the frame, safety, trigger, hammer and top of slide are all marked with the "eagle/359" acceptance proof. Matching numbers including the locking lug. High gloss blue finish. Fitted with reddish brown ribbed Bakelite grips with a magazine marked "P.38" on the left side of the body, numbered to the gun on the base and a single "eagle/359" Waffenamt proof on the spine.
Excellent. The pistol retains 95% original blue finish with some wear on the muzzle, top of the rear portion of the barrel from normal cycling, trigger guard bow and on the high edges. There is some minor spotting on the barrel, slide and front strap. The grips are also excellent with only light handling marks. The markings remain crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
