An excellent example of an original and very scarce fully-automatic Armalite AR-18 rifle as manufactured by Armalite in Costa Mesa, California. A contemporary alternative to the M16, the AR-18 was designed to be robust and simple to produce, using a short stroke piston system and stamped receiver components. Though not accepted by the military, there are those who consider it to be a superior weapon, with several modern proposed replacements for the M16/M4 platform using a similar piston arrangement. Adjustable pin and peep sights, with a 3-pring flash hider, bayonet lug, makers marks on the upper receiver, and the ambidextrous three position selector on the lower. Ribbed and vented handguard, with an "AR-18/ ArmaLite" marked pistol grip, side folding buttstock, green canvas sling and 5 extra magazines. Also equipped with an ArmaLite 2.75x20mm scope. Excellent overall with 99% of the original factory gray parkerized finish, showing some slight edge wear and handling marks overall. The stock, handguard and pistol grip are in excellent condition showing minor handling wear from light use. The retention plug and spring are absent from the guide rod stake assembly, otherwise mechanically excellent. An excellent example of a very desirable full-automatic Armalite AR18 rifle.
