1) Tomes, Son & Melvain (New York City, circa 1861) 1860 Pattern Light Cavalry saber, 35" double fuller blade with "T" on the left ricasso, 2-branch brass guard, Phrygian helmet pommel, leather and wire grip and iron scabbard. 2) U.S. Mansfield & Lamb (Forestdale, RI) 1860 sword, with "U.S./ L.D/ 1862" and maker's marks on the ricassos. The saber has a matching iron scabbard with "L.D." inspection mark on the drag.
1) Very good, with light spotting on the blade, mild grip wear, a mixed patina on the hilt and pitting on the iron scabbard. 2) Good, with light dings and spotting on the blade, mild wear on the grip, well aged brass and patches of pitting and mixed patina on the scabbard.
