Manufactured by August Lingke & Co. circa 1859 to 1873. Brass construction and marked "AUGUST LINGKE & CO. / FREIBERG IN SA. / No. 152". With bubble level. August Friedrich Lingke studied at Freiberg University and then worked for his farther until 1859 when he took control of the family surveying instrument business and traded as August Lingke & Co. which was then purchased in 1873 by Max Hildebrand. Hildebrand used the Lingke name until 1889.
Fine. The brass has been cleaned at one time, retaining traces of the original silver plating in the protective areas. The markings, including the graduations, remain clear. The bubble level is operational.
