Description:Labeled as a "pattern makers model", this is a scale rendering of the Minneapolis-Moline experimental combat tractor, submitted for U.S. Army trials in 1938. The vehicle was tested at Camp Ripley in Minnesota, where it was reportedly dubbed the "Jeep" by the soldiers testing it, entirely independent of the Willys-Overland Jeep receiving the same handle. Constructed from metal and wood, with a rubberized canvas top, the model measures 22" long, 16 3/4" wide across the rear and 11 1/2" tall, with details including a set of front mounted winches, reinforced front grill, two padded passenger benches in the rear, and 6-wheel layout, including makers markings for the 2 Goodrich Silvertown front tires and Firestone Groundgrip rear tires. A pair of information cards are secured to the cab doors.
Rating Definition:Very good. Some mild flaking of the paint is visible, chiefly on the wheels, with high edge wear on the canvas and minor handling marks overall.
