This is a truly extra ordinary original example of a Mauser, military P.08 Luger pistol with "K" (1934) date code on the chamber. This Sub-variation 2, K-date, pistol has a scriptic "S/42" on the top of the toggle and a mixed scriptic and gothic "S" markings on other components (approximately 3550 of the estimated 10,930 K-date P.08 pistols have Sub-variation 2 markings; these pistols are found in the 1700-5250 serial number range). The pistol has a rust blue finish with 'straw' finished trigger, locking bolt, magazine release safety lever and ejector. The grips are checkered walnut. The pistol has a "Type 1 Army" magazine with a nickel-plated, slant-cut, body and aluminum base stamped with the serial number, "3601/+" and a "B90" acceptance stamp. The full serial number, "3601" is stamped on the underside of the barrel, the front of the frame, and the left side of the receiver. The partial serial number "01" is stamped on the sear bar, extractor, breechblock, toggle links, lock bolt, trigger, safety bar, safety lever, side plate, and on the inside of both stocks. All of the visible serial numbers match. A gothic "S" is stamped on the front sight base, right side of the frame, sear bar, lock bolt, trigger, magazine release, safety lever, toggles, the breechblock and on the inside of both grips. A scriptic "S" is stamped on the side plate and extractor. The early style German Army proofmark is stamped on the right side of the barrel, the right side of the receiver, and the left side of the breechblock. The Army "B90" and "S91" acceptance stamps are located on the right side of the receiver. A "37" Army acceptance mark is stamped on the left side of the barrel. The pistol is complete with a black, cowhide, Type I P.08 holster. The holster is stamped with the maker's name and date (OTTO SINDEL/BERLIN/1934) in three lines between the belt loops. The "K Date" P.08 Lugers were manufactured by Mauser for the German Army in 1934; the "K" was utilized to conceal the fact that Germany was rearming in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. These early Wermacht P.08 pistols have a low survival rate in original condition and are among the most desirable Nazi Luger pistols.

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% of the original blue finish. There is limited holster wear on the edges of the side plate, receiver and trigger guard and some thinning in the finish on the grip straps. The straw colored components have 60% of the original finish. The grips are in excellent condition with sharp checkering. The magazine is in excellent condition. All of the markings are crisp. The bore is bright. The holster is in excellent condition. This is an excellent, totally original example of a scarce K Date P.08 Luger with matching magazine and equally scarce correct holster. This is the ultimate rarity in variation of WWII Lugers!
