Manufactured in 1883 with barrel subsequently shortened to current length. The right side of the barrel is double stamped with an upside down one line Hartford address and the partial serial number (5692) on the left side. No front sight. The left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent date marking and "45 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard. Matching serial number on the frame and trigger guard, with a mismatched (59067) nickel plated backstrap and an illegible serial number on the cylinder. Fitted with replacement checkered grips with Rampant Colt in an oval at the tops.
Assembled and modified (see above). Overall, the metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina with the backstrap retaining strong amounts of nickel plating. There are three "X"s marked on the butt. The oversized replacement grips are very good with some light handling marks. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically needs work as the full cock notch is absent.
