One of an estimated 5000 Army Model percussion revolvers manufactured by the Rodgers & Spencer Company of Willow Dale, New York for a U.S. Ordnance contract issued in November 1864. Silver cone front and pinched groove rear sights. The top of the frame is double stamped "ROGERS & SPENCER / UTICA N.Y. on either side of the sighting groove. All numbers match. Small "B" Ordnance sub-inspection marks are stamped on most components. The lower portion of the left grip is stamped with the Ordnance inspector's script initials "RPB" in a rectangle.
Near fine. The barrel has a mixed gray patina with limited traces of blue in the protected areas. The frame and cylinder retain approximately 60% blue finish with smooth gray on the grip straps and some minor spotting. The loading lever has some patches of noticeable case color patterns. The right panel has been repaired and left panel is cracked at butt, otherwise the grips are very fine with some minor dings and scratches and few minor nicks on the bottom edge. The cartouche is very crisp. Mechanically excellent.
