Manufactured in 1876, this First Model has the grooved guides for the dust cover on either side of the receiver (dust cover missing). The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address (partially not visible)/King's improvement marking and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. There are no other visible markings. Brass blade front sight, folding two leaf rear sight, saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate with cleaning rod compartment (cleaning rod not included).
Refinished. The barrel and magazine have a smooth artificial brown patina with a dark area on the muzzle end of the magazine. The receiver has the same smooth grayish brown patina with a small amount of minor pitting on the underside and some very light pitting on the sides. The lever has a dark patina with some minor pitting. The buttplate has a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting. The stock has a small filled repair on the right side and has been lightly sanded. Overall the wood is good with scattered minor dings and dents. The remaining markings are readable. The action is good.
