Approximately 5,000 of these Second Models were manufactured from the early 1860s to the mid 1870s with only a handful of these engraved. The slotted link was moved to the left side and a manually operated ejector was mounted on the right side of the barrel at the breech. There are no visible markings. The frame sides and bottom of the trigger guards are floral scroll engraved. The barrel, triggers and hammer are blue and the frame, trigger guard and buttplate are nickel plated. Dove tailed blade front and adjustable rear buckhorn rear sights and mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. This rifle is from the Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity certifying that this "Old Fancy 22 Cal. Target Rifle" was personally owned and used by cowboy star Roy Rogers and most recently was on display at the Roy Rogers - Dale Evans Museum in Branson, Missouri. The certificate is signed by Roy Rogers, Jr. and dated Feb. 25, 2009.
Very fine. The barrel has approximately 60% of the faded original blue with the balance a smooth plum/blue finish with some wear and minor dings on the high edges. The remaining metal surfaces retain approximately 95-97% original nickel finish with scattered minor "bubbling" and some edge wear on the buttplate as well as some light "frosting" on the buttplate tang. The slotted link has come loose from the frame and interferes with returning the barrel to the ready position. The stock is fine with a few minor dings and nicks. The engraving is crisp. Except for noted above, the action and mechanics are fine
