This is a standard 1920 DWM commercial rework Luger with an unmarked chamber, the DWM monogram on the toggle, commercial "crown / N" proof on the left side of the barrel extension and on the underside of the barrel, import marked "GERMANY" on the left frame rail and marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" on the safety and ejector respectively. Straw colored small components, backstrap cut for a stock, checkered walnut grips and nickel magazine with wooden base marked "4748 / l".
Partially refinished and renumbered with approximately 60% faded blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina and a refinished brown patina on the replaced side plate. There is gray patina forming on some of the high edges, backstrap and at the muzzle. The small components retain about 60% straw color. The grips have moderate wear with some light nicks, but overall the checkering is good. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
Produced in Prussia in 1918, and later reworked for used by the post-War Weimar Republic. Fixed sights, with "1920/ 1918" stamped on the chamber and "crown/ ERFURT" on the toggle. Right side of the extension has the three "crown/ gothic letter" proofs next to the Imperial firing proof, which is repeated on the barrel and breechblock, and the "crown/ RC" rework proof on the extension and barrel, and scattered letter proofs on many parts. Barrel is numbered "6055", with the rest of the parts numbered to match the frame. Checkered hardwood grips and nickel magazine with aluminum base.
Good as arsenal reworked/refurbished and assembled, with approximately 30-40% of the blue. A bright gray patina is visible on the grip straps and high edges, and a mixed dull gray/ brown is visible on other parts. Dings are visible on the chamber, with a large number of tiny dings on the sides and a few larger dents on top. Scattered handling marks overall. Grips are good, with some small chips and pressure dents. Mechanically very good.
