Description:

Manufactured from 1860 to the 1870's, the barrel is marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK / ALLEN'S PAT SEPT. 18, 1860" and has a blade front sight and an adjustable side mounted receiver rear sight that is calibrated from 0 to10 and features a takedown screw on the right side of the frame. There is a sling swivel mounted to the barrel and another at the bottom of the buttstock. The stock has a straight grip with a crescent steel buttplate featuring a trap which includes the rare two bladed takedown tool. The forearm is secured by two screws and features a steel nose cap.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel is a smooth plum brown and the action, lever and buttplate are a silver gray with smooth brown patina. The drop block and hammer show traces of case color. The period re-oiled wood has a minor crack at the back of the action's top tang and light handling marks. The forearm shows vise marks on either side with light handling marks. The action is fine.
