Baker Gun & Forging Company was founded in 1890 in Batavia, New York. Baker was the first American company to manufacture a single barrel trap shotgun and one with a vented rib. In recent years these have become highly collectable. This shotgun features double ivory bead sights on the matte, high vent rib, 2 1/2 inch chamber, choked full with extractor. Broad scroll engraved trigger guard and frame with game scenes and "BAKER GUN COMPANY" on each side. Matching serial number over "STERLING" marked on the water table and barrels. Matte blue barrel with nickel finished frame and trigger guard. Mounted on a replacement custom oak leaf and acorn deep relief carved beaver tail forearm with diamond inlay and pistol grip stock with horn grip cap with diamond inlay, raised cheekpiece and vented Hawkins recoil pad. There is a 1 inch floral engraved wedge on the chamber sides. Length of pull approximately 13 3/4".
Refinished and restocked. The barrel shows about 99% reblued finish with a few light handling marks. The receiver and trigger guard retain about 90% of the current nickel finish with some minor flaking and frost. The wood has some scattered mild dings and scratches.
